Moon Handbooks have treated Panama like it's a real place to visit--the LP is about half the size, and really skims over some stuff. Willi I'm leaving this on my Currently Reading shelf for now, but I'm going to go ahead and write a review.
William Friar, the author, is a wealth of information. He actually grew up in Panama, so he knows it like the back of his hand. He gives clear, concise, and complete information about places well, I'm assuming--I haven't actually been to Panama yet. He is a great writer, and I am even reading all the history parts.
The sidebars are great. My only problem with this edition is that it's so old that prices are way wrong. I'm hoping that's the only part that's way wrong! The new edition is coming out later this year. This book definitely is detailed about experience but short on travel advice. I'm left with many unanswered questions.
