Hacking a mud shell

The reports on Log4Shell indicate that the hack is a major threat to many Internet companies. This is because hackers might take advantage of it to execute code inside their systems. Patching the vulnerability is possible, and companies have started deploying fixes. But each separate internet entity will have to handle the matter on its own servers and systems. This means not everyone will deploy fixes simultaneously, risking prolonged exposure to the attacks. Meyers is the senior vice president of intelligence at Crowdstrike, a cybersecurity company monitoring the Log4Shell hack.

The AP notes that the Log4Shell hack may be the worst vulnerability in years. From there, they can execute code remotely to steal data, plant malware, and do all sorts of malicious activities. Nation-state attackers who employ highly trained hackers with access to massive resources could quickly weaponize the attack. And everyone would be at risk. He said that untold millions of servers might have the utility installed. As a result, the fallout from the Log4Shell hack will be a mystery for several days.

The Log4Shell hack patch arrived on Thursday, alongside reports describing the vulnerability. Yoran is the CEO of cybersecurity firm Tenable. Researchers say that companies like Apple, Amazon, Twitter, and Cloudflare could run servers where hackers might abuse the vulnerability. The point is that any internet service out there might be susceptible to the Log4Shell hack. What internet users can do right now is ensure their software is up to date and await more details from security researchers.

RPEGG firing delay removed. Oh, and a cool new map. Get them before they see their shadows! Private game creators can now boot naughty players. You can now mute other players. Their chat will no longer show, and their name will be changed to a random one.

Black egg shell color had to go. It is now bright green, so you can see those cracks! Team player count balance now enforced once again in public games only. Fixes to the Auto Detail option in the Settings menu. Did a bunch of boring server stuff to help mitigate lag spikes Fixed some weapon-switching problems for you people who can't be bothered to wait 2 measly seconds before jumping into the Equipment screen and changing everything.

New health bar. Much compact and fancy! New skins are available. I know we're a friendly bunch, but nobody likes spawning on top of their teammates, so that shouldn't happen now.

Servers were having a hard time keeping up with new game requests, leaving a lot of people with 'Matchmaker Offline' messages. It's like a Golden Chicken, but kinda not! Better, more diverse spawn points Improved inter-server communication 0. More shell colors! No ads! Buy now! New, improved egg death animation. No more rushing people and blowing yourselves up, losers!

Very slight tweaks to other weapons that I'm not going to tell you about. I'm already regretting just typing this. Live Twitch streamer list. Turkey Day skins are here! Worked on some server stability nonsense Next time! Yeah, it's a new gun; don't have a heart-attack. Do prepare yourself for the fact that everyone will be using it for a while, though.

Fixed an issue where new games couldn't be created on a server after a while. If you see a message complaining about the match-maker, just give it a moment and try again. Fixed an issue where you could only enter 2 lines of smack in chat while dead. Probably fixed some other things in the process. It was that bad. Bug Fixes Some server stability issues.

Step 3. Rex, If I were you, Id take Ksilyans adivce. Robert has some good suggestions too. Clones are people two. I think the problem here is that you are on the wrong forum, Rex. You want a forum dedicated to bringing MUDs down, rather than helping them.

Offhand I can't think of such a one. Plus, you might be arrested. Its way different to anything i have played befor and i got a lot of ideas for things i would like to do to my own mud.

Now befor long i had obtained mastery, maxed stats and trained everything in sight, has 20K hp mana and move, had mastered all the super stances and was elevated to the level of Vetran. And if the imms suck or have given their friends all the buffest equips then go and find a mud that dont suck. Just a guy having a bit of fun. Well from my perspective muds are kool for these reasons: reading programming scripts chatting PK maybe other stuff too Anyway with all the programming stuff like triggers, alias and other things its rather awesome.

So I can see why someone would want to hack into it however not why they would mess with it. I have no clue really probably to get back what they lost because of admin whom are jerks and sterotypicalize roleplaying.

I've had a few questions regarding mud security though. I've taken a few networking classes and well telnet doesn't use encryption so basically anyone can sniff out a packet to see what is going on and spoof it. What protects muds from that, perhaps some sort of authentication process?

Well hacking a mud would be fun to screw with people Everything turns around in the end top. Kind of the wrong forum, but I think we all know where one might want to. Thought has crossed my mind a time or two about a mud not giving any names here Lost an av char and a full set of gear I did, and they wouldn't do a damn thing, so what have I been doing?

Slowly going on with my life and creating a mud myself to then start to make things right in one place at least. As for security, I think using something that is a net host Apache and Samba come to mind, but those might just be for web pages or something , and rework a little of the source to close up some holes they may have and to make it not as obvious where to go through. Someone who knows what they are doing will have probably gone through and looked the code over themselves just to see where it could be buggy.

Just an idea top. But I had a very odd problem with a mud once. A friend whom was new to mud games asked if I could help them setup their skills, in game aliases, and write them a description.

Me being the nice guy I am I said sure. What was strange though is when I went to login I entered their name and waited to enter the password while still messenging them on AIM.
