It appears that you are correct that my nVidia control has overridden the function of having the taskbar span both monitors. I think that I would even prefer that to having nothing on my secondary monitor. Is there a way restrict the nVidia control and allow the taskbar to extend over both monitors? Assuming nVidia's driver software was installed, right click on the blank desktop and choose nVidia Control Panel then choose Display when nVidia control panel opens up.
